The Strands Are All There: To The Memory Nothing Is Ever Really Lost

This is a very special edition of Friday Hound blogging. For all the joy and happiness the greyhounds bring to those who love them, their time with us is unmercifully short. A light has gone out in the life of a friend of mine, and we all stand in shadow because of it.

Thank you for such a beautiful tribute to such a beautiful soul, my most precious girl, my Sweetie Pie. She was the light of my life and will always be my inspiration to keep fighting this fight for greyhounds.

A moving tribute and what an evocative photo - just lovely.

I hope Sweetie Pie will seek out another Hound Heaven newbie, my Spottacus, who got there two days before Christmas, a too-young (he'd have turned 9 in May)victim of a large tumor that, causing no symptoms, wasn't diagnosed until the very end. He only acted sick for a couple of days, a blessing of sorts. He did his suffering before adoption, having languished in the indifferent care of an adoption group (with an untreated hock rupture)for two months before being rescued from his rescuers. Though he arrived at the shelter a couple of days after the racing injury, he wasn't as much as X-rayed until I got him out of there. A wonderful veterinary orthopedist operated on him the next week, since this type of injury cannot heal without surgery. He had a happy life once he was recuperated, but only got to enjoy 5 good years. So he'll be ready to romp with Sweetie Pie during what I pray will be a long wait until his two remaining greymates join him.

Thank you, IM. The loss of Sweetie Pie casts a huge shadow over all of us, as you said. May the next rainbow in the sky remind us all of Sweetie Pie, Spottacus, and all their friends across the bridge.

Lovely girl. She is romping pain free and happy with Rocket, Moose and Frieda. Take comfort in knowing she had a wonderful life with you, and felt love and safety and happiness after she found her forever home. Susan
